Summary:
The Submarine Grayling, also known later as the D-2, collided with the the schooner Charlotte W. Miller in July of 1917 near New London. The D-2 was miraculously unharmed and managed to pick up survivors of the collision. The government towboat the Ontario attempted to assist in recovering the Miller, but provided more harm than good. The Miller was damaged severly and later underwent reparations and became the William H. Draper.
